The Setup
Pre-Game

Before the tournament begins, you need your field of 32.

1
Choose Your Category: Select a preset (e.g., Famous Scientists) or select Custom to type in your own 32 names.
2
Build the Bracket: Click Launch Bracket to display the full 32-team field.
3
The Draw: Since the app displays the names in their slots, have students "draw from the hat."
πŸ’‘
Tip: Number your students 1–32 and have them pull a name, or have them pull a "Seed Number" that corresponds to the bracket layout.

Phase 2: Blended Learning
Research & Promotion
Homework / Class Period

Now that every student (or pair) "owns" a team, it's time to build their case.

Scouting Report: Assign a research period. Students must find three "Power Stats" (key facts) and one "Game-Changer" (a unique contribution or impact) for their assigned candidate.
The Defense Statement: Students prepare a 30-second "Elevator Pitch" to convince the class why their candidate is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time).
Campaigning (Optional): Allow students to create a "Digital Jersey" or a single-slide promotion to display during their matchup.

Phase 3: Head-to-Head Presentations
The classroom becomes the arena
Showtime
1
Center Court: Call the two students representing a specific matchup to the front β€” e.g., The Printing Press vs. The Internet.
2
The Pitch: Each student delivers their Defense Statement.
3
The Rebuttal: Give them 30 seconds to explain why their opponent's candidate "doesn't have the stats" to move on.

Phase 4: The Class Vote
Once the defense rests, the class becomes the selection committee
Voting Time
1
Call the Vote: After both students deliver their pitches and rebuttals, open the floor. Use any in-person method that works for your classroom β€” raised hands, standing up, thumbs up/down, or written ballots.
2
Tally the Count: Count the votes aloud or have a student "scorekeeper" track them on the board. Announce the final numbers β€” the energy of a close vote is half the fun!
3
Advance the Winner: Click the β–Ά Advance button next to the winning candidate to move them forward in the bracket.
πŸ’‘
Tip: For close votes, consider a "sudden death" rebuttal round β€” each student gets 15 more seconds β€” before re-voting.

Phase 5: The Road to the Championship
Navigate the bracket as the stakes get higher
Endgame
Sweet Sixteen & Elite Eight: Encourage students to find "Deep Cut" facts for these rounds to keep the debates evolving.
Final Four: The ultimate semi-finals.
Championship: The final two go head-to-head for the title.
The Champion: Celebrate the winner with the Confetti Effect! πŸŽ‰

Admin
Manual Advance (β–Ά): Click the β–Ά button next to any candidate at any time to advance them β€” perfect for overriding a vote, handling a "forfeit," or skipping a matchup when time is short.
Reset: Use the Reset button in the header to clear the entire bracket and start fresh with a new category or set of names.
Export: Use Export PNG (or Ctrl/Cmd + P to print as PDF) to save a snapshot of the bracket at any point β€” great for posting in the classroom or sharing with students.
