Great stories usually start with something the writer already cares about. Pick one or two things you like, know about, or would love to explore.
A strong choose-your-own-adventure usually has these ingredients:
Each bubble can have up to two outgoing choices. Choose where the story goes next.
Choose an export below. Your story structure, choices, endings, brainstorming information, and Canva instructions will travel with your project.
Creates a standalone HTML game that can be opened in a browser. Players can click through the adventure.
Creates a clean text document showing the complete story, choices, paths, endings, and brainstorming information.
Creates a detailed prompt students can paste into Canva AI to turn their story map into an interactive-looking game design.
Saves the editable Adventure Mapper project so you can reopen and continue working later.
Copy the prompt below and paste it into Canva AI. The prompt tells Canva to use your story structure rather than inventing a completely different story.
Start with something YOU care about. Pick one or two interests. You can choose games, sports, music, animals, science, history, mysteries, fantasy, the future, real-life experiences, or something weird!
Think about your main character, the problem, the goal, the choices the player will make, and the possible endings.
Play through your adventure. Try every path. Ask yourself: Do the choices make sense? Are the endings different? Can someone else understand what is happening?
Export your playable game, story blueprint, Canva AI prompt, or editable project file.
Take your Canva AI prompt and use it to transform your story plan into a designed choose-your-own-adventure experience.
Your first idea does NOT need to be perfect. Good writers experiment, test ideas, make changes, and try again.
