Build boxes, discover formulas, and fill the warehouse!
Volume = how many unit cubes fill a box. Use the sliders โ watch the cubes build!
Volume measures how much 3D space a shape takes up. We measure it in cubic units โ tiny cubes that fill the whole box with no gaps or overlaps.
Think of packing a shipping crate: how many identical boxes fit inside?
Each layer is a flat array of cubes โ length ร width. Stack up all the layers and you've filled the whole box!
Try setting height to 1: that's your base layer. Now increase height โ you're just stacking identical layers!
V = l ร w ร h | Why does it work? Let's find out.
The base layer always has length ร width cubes. Every time you add a height, you're multiplying that base by another layer. So: V = length ร width ร height
You can also write it as V = B ร h where B = the area of the base.
Two rectangular prisms joined together โ split, solve, add!
When a shape is made of two rectangular prisms, find the volume of each piece separately โ then add them together.
Look for where you can "cut" the shape into two simpler boxes.
All volume types mixed. Get 5 in a row โ launch Crate Stacker!
